Knowing, Loving, Serving…
So the World Will Know Christ’s Love

Wednesday Spiritual Focus 05.06.2020

The Lord goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

Hello my friends,

As our lives change from week to week, you all continue to be in my prayers!. Here are some resources to support you this week:

Guided Meditation: Friendly Wishes is based on the traditional practice known as Metta, or Lovingkindness meditation. In addition to being a concentration practice, these meditations help us develop compassion for themselves and others. **These meditations are designed for children, but I find them to be helpful for all ages.** https://annakaharris.com/friendly-wishes/

We Live in HOPE: Thanks to Dave Barnes for sharing this beautiful video. Let it serve as a reminder for us who believe that we are never without hope!

Beautiful and Heartbreaking Read: This article is about a restaurant, but it touched on all sorts of themes that I think affect the church. I found it both lovely and haunting. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/23/magazine/closing-prune-restaurant-covid.html

Handprint Art: Our family made a very simple version of this family handprint art for our Mother’s Day Card  (Vivi, if you’re reading this, we love you!) Instead of cutting out of construction paper, we just traced our hands with markers. Perhaps you would like to trace your own hands on a card, and send the art to someone in need of prayer! http://www.simplyorganized.me/2012/03/diy-family-hand-print-art.html

Video Greetings Made Easy: I was introduced to “VidHug”this week and thought the process was super simple. This website provides a great way to make a simple montage video without a lot of fuss. https://www.vidhug.com

My friends, we at Bethel continue to reassess our situation in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and strive to keep you informed.  Please know that you are a beloved part of our family.  If you wish to talk with me at any time, do not hesitate to reach out.  I hold the entire Bethel UMC family in my heart and prayers and ask the same of you.  We walk together.

In Christ’s abiding presence,
Pastor Julie Belman
